我一開始覺得鴿子在電影中出現很唐突，後來才感覺到導演刻意安排來闡述男主角心理狀態。
第一次鴿子是他們兩人生活的"外來侵犯者＂。
第二次，鴿子剛開始是外來者，他努力把它抓住，不希望它目睹他悶死妻子的心情與行為。但他抓住它後，他發現他禁錮了一個活生生的生命之自由，老人開始憐惜它，而撫摸它，鴿子象徵著生命，活力，與陪伴。像往昔的妻子。放它飛走，禳生命重生，自由。禳妻子重生與自由。。。

劇中圍繞著「舒伯特」的鋼琴曲也是象徵。
舒伯特是一生悲劇，被病魔纒身的音樂家，他的音樂不時展現出與生命「掙扎」的能量與悲傷，光明與黑暗！

Michael Haneke (pronounced [ˈmɪçaːʔeːl ˈhaːnəkə]; born 23 March 1942) is an Austrian filmmaker and screenwriter best known for his bleak and disturbing style. His films often document problems and failures in modern society. Haneke has worked intelevision‚ theatre and cinema. He is also known for raising social issues in his work.^[2] Besides working as a filmmaker he also teaches directing at the Filmacademy Vienna.

At the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, his film The White Ribbon won the Palme d'Or for best film, and at the 67th Golden Globe Awards the film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2012, his film Amour premiered and competed at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival.^[3][4] The film would go on to win the Palme d'Or, making it his second win of the prestigious award in three years and putting him in an elite club of only seven with the likes of Francis Ford Coppola.^[5] The film received five Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actress in a Leading Role for Emmanuelle Riva.^[6] It won in the category of Best Foreign Language Film. Haneke has made films in French, German and in English.

In 2013 Haneke won the Prince of Asturias Award for the arts.
